Finnish artist Tony Sjöman works on an almost-finished mural, located on the fifth
floor of a new luxury residence at 277 5th Avenue.
Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to participate in a studio tour organized by the American Scandinavian Society. Sjöman showed us several of his murals that are in walking distance from his studio. We ended the tour by returning to his studio for a Q&A session and a few bubbly drinks. A lovely time was had by all!

Yesterday, I infused potato vodka two different ways in order to make aquavit.
On the left we have a Blueberry Aquavit. It will be mixed with a a bit of simple
syrup after 6 to 8 weeks of infusion time. On the right, we have a lemon, pepper, and
dill aquavit which is the more traditionally Scandinavian of the two.
In late August or early September, I will strain out the solids and then pour the
remaining liquid back into the original bottles. Aquavit should be served ice-cold and
preferably in shot glasses.
The “Lady of Saint Denis” is the first to process in Montreal’s Fête Nationale parade.
